EU-PolarNet

The final symposium of EU-PolarNet entitled “Together for the poles - Advancing European Polar Research through Collaboration” will take place at the Mission of Norway to the EU (Norway House) in Brussels.

EU-PolarNet is, as stated in the 2021 EU Arctic Strategy, one of the central columns of the EU to strengthen and support the European Polar research community. As the world’s largest consortium of scientific expertise and infrastructure for Polar research, EU-PolarNet has developed since 2015 effective and societal relevant polar research priorities in close cooperation with stake- and rightsholders. These cooperative efforts address urgent needs for deepened knowledge regarding the changes observed in the Arctic and Antarctic and their local, regional and global effects.

EU-PolarNet will end in December 2024. The symposium “Together for the poles – Advancing European Polar Research through Collaboration“, taking place on 19 November 2024, will provide the opportunity to share our results and experiences from nine years of collaborative work and introduce the future European cooperation platform, the European Polar Coordination Office (EPCO). The symposium will also stimulate a dialogue between European and national policy makers, polar scientists, industries, local communities and civil society to explore how a stronger European cooperation in Polar Research can benefit science and societal needs.
